The Snapshots, Sardinian Style

Sunday, 14 September 2014

After eleven days of pure relaxation I'm back from Sardinia incredibly care free and ready to get back to life, and most importantly blogging. I genuinely can't remember the last time I went on holiday without any wifi and must say it was surprisingly refreshing to just switch off and really chill out without constantly checking Twitter, Instagram or my emails.

Although it's been a shock to the system coming home (where's that 30 degree sunshine gone?) it's been lovely to have a three day weekend with the boyf, squeezing a wedding, a whole load of errands and a trip to the cinema in before things go back to normal tomorrow. Scary stuff.

If you ever fancy a trip to an Italian isle I'd whole heartedly recommend Sardinia, it's absolutely beautiful, as I'm sure you can see and has a real mix of unspoilt, more local spots as it does tourist destinations. We stayed in an awesome town house in a small village called Villaputzu which is around an hours drive from Cagliari airport. Just looking at these pictures is making me wish for 4 euro prosecco (yes really), heaps of gelato and giggles with loved ones.

Ciao for now Sardinia, now let's get planning that Autumn wardrobe...

Have you ever holidayed in Italy? Which of my holiday outfits is your fave?

Jumpsuits Made Autumn Appropriate

Sunday, 31 August 2014

Rose Gold Necklace: & Other Stories
Aztec Jumpsuit: c/o George at Asda*
Leather Jacket: Zara
Alexa Satchel Bag: Mulberry
Rose Gold Sandals: Faith c/o Debenhams
As you read this I'll be running around my house like a headless chicken packing for my long awaited, definitely ready for vacay. So. Excited. Craig, myself and two of our faves are flying to Sardinia on Monday morning and I really can't wait. It's the latest that we've ever holidayed and I must confess it once felt like a lifetime away but now it's here I can't wait for ten days of relaxation. As a super organised individual (who'd of thought it?) I have got a few posts scheduled while I'm away so you won't miss out on general Cagney and Lace-ness. I would tell you all to get on over to my Insta for regular updates but the place we're staying in has zero wi-fi, I can't wait to switch Twitter for a paperback or five.

With Autumn officially making it's bed and lying in it I've found myself pulling out black opaques, my leather skirt and a knit most mornings, can you tell I've been feeling the cold? That said I really shouldn't be letting Summer go so easily, enter my solution - take something that screams Summer and give it a seasonal appropriate twist. Sure this aztec print jumpsuit would look awesome on my Sardinian jaunt thrown over a bikini but it doesn't look too shabby here paired with my leather jacket, a pair of sandals and a ties-everything-together necklace, agreed? Perfect for when the sun pops out and then disappears into an abyss, common place this last week. George at Asda have been coming up fashion trumps for years but right now they've got it goin' on, plus clothes shopping with the food shop is never wrong.

If the rain did decide to rear its grey head I'd switch the sandals for a pair of well loved Converse and throw a lightweight knit on top of proceedings to keep the chill out, so next time you think about packing away your Summer wares see if things can get transitional first. Something I'll not have to worry about in Sardinia. Sorry guys, it had to be done.

Can you believe this jumpsuit could be picked up with your weekly shop? Are you styling Summer pieces to make them Autumn appropriate?

*This jumpsuit was kindly sent to me by George at Asda.

Sunday For One

Sunday, 17 August 2014

Stripe Long Sleeve Tee: Hush
Rose Gold Necklace: & Other Stories
Black Ceramic Watch: Michael Kors
Maysa Skinny Jeans: Whistles
Rose Gold Sandals: Faith c/o Debenhams*
Alexa Bag: Mulberry
Tortoiseshell Sunglasses: Tom Ford
Solo Sundays are pretty rare around these parts but when the boys (Craig and the pooch) had plans in the diary with poppa Wild it was my time to shine aka run a few errands, generally potter around and visit the newly returned from holiday rents, how beaut is their new front door colour? With a new candle to add to my stash and a tin full of Swiss chocolates, thanks ma and pa, I returned home to find my washing soddened. Damn you unpredictable weather, where has that thing called Summer gone? Right now it seems like everyone and their dog are on holiday so instead of getting all envious I'm counting down the days to our vacay to Sardinia instead, just fourteen days to go and can you believe this time next Sunday I'll be at Leeds fest? Now that will be a change of scene from todays activities.

Stripy tops have recently found their way to the top of my love list so after deciding my Joules number was looking a bit tired (well I do wear it all the time) I decided to splurge on this Hush offering. You can never have too many stripes right? I can tell it was a wise move as I've already worn it two days in a row, oops. Another must mention is this kooky & Other Stories necklace which I found on my epic tidy up last weekend. What can I say? I buy things, leave them in the carriers and forget all about them. It's a problem. I'm a little bit into rose gold right now so was thrilled to remember this buy and sport it today. Last but never least is my nail polish, borrowed from my pal Claire who made the most epic cauliflower pizza last night FYI. The shade in question is Mind The Gap, Victoria (cutest name ever?) from Rimmel and boy is it a winner. That much so I may have already picked up my very own bottle on todays food shop.

Has your Sunday been a solo affair? What do you have planned for the bank holiday?

What's In My Suitcase: Travelling Light With Debenhams

Friday, 1 August 2014

I was challenged by the lovely team at Debenhams to travel light using a cabin sized suitcase to pack all my holiday must haves with a £250 budget for my upcoming holiday to Sardinia. Fancy seeing what made the cut? Things may have got brutal, which in my experience is always the best way when travelling light.

The suitcase holding all my goodies is the Star Lite 4 Wheel* which meets my high luggage standards (yes that's an actual thing) with it's robust, sleek exterior and did you see how it's got four wheels? That's the travel dream right there. The contents however are far more important...

Packing for a jaunt is often seen as a travel peeve but funnily enough I rather enjoy it. Before I pop anything into my case I lay out outfits, think where they'd work (sightseeing, on the beach, a romantic evening out) and whether things can mix and match. When travelling light there's really no point in taking a dress you'll wear once. Oh and I make a fair few lists too, nobody wants to forget their faves.

A bikini is a holiday essential but something I struggled to find at this time of the year, who'd of thought it? I managed to pick this one up from the Topshop concession and chose a stripey bandeau top with white bottoms so I can mismatch with other bikini sets until my heart's content. Next up are three simple cami tops in cream, grey and mint (again from Topshop). I'm a nightmare when it comes to packing plain garms but these will be great teamed with patterned bottom halves, both day and night. An absolute steal in my suitcase are a pair of rose gold sandals by Faith which had been reduced from £39 to £11.70. I adore rose gold, and metallics in general as they bring a little somethin' somethin' to an outfit.

Excuse the creases in my cami but I just had to show you a close up of this vintage inspired daisy print maxi skirt which I've rolled up in my case, an easy way to save space and prevent creases in case you didn't know. This looks way more expensive than it's £20 price tag and would work just as well for exploring Sardinia as it would for drinks by the beach.

The two final pieces on this side are a pair of multi coloured patterned shorts which are incredibly lightweight and can be thrown together with a bikini and sandals for a day at the beach and possibly my favourite piece, a loose smock style dress with white embroidery. Isn't she a beaut? This will be just dreamy with a Sardinian back drop, can you tell I'm excited to wear this one?

Things have been all kinds of cas so far, until now. I'd been eyeing this Three Floor inspired dress from Oasis for an age so when I spotted this in the sale in Debenhams I was ecstatic. Reduced from £75 to £22 it really was my lucky day. I can envisage this on a evening meal for two, sunset in the background, red wine in hand plus wouldn't it be lovely worn to a wedding?

Keeping on the theme of dresses my final pick is from Warehouse which you can just see a peek of below, on the right. You may have already seen me wearing this number here, ain't nobody got time for saving clothes just for their holiday. I love how light and airy this dress is along with the ditsy print and midi cut, clearly I'm digging a longer hem line right now.

Now things just need to stay exactly like this for four weeks until we jet off. Wish me luck?

What are your must packs when you're travelling light? How do you cope with an on-flight suitcase?

I'd love to know how you get on and hear your packing tips so tweet me and Debenhams with the hash tag #travellight.
