I'm putting together this post with the remnants of mince pie (easily the best I've eaten so far from Forge Bakehouse in case you were wondering) on my left and a steaming mug of tea on my right all whilst watching our log fire throw all kinds of shapes, as Sunday evenings go I don't think it could get any more spot on. We've throughly embraced the Christmas festivities this year with the family and I visiting not one, not two but three Christmas markets on the last three Sundays and while I had all the best intentions of capturing the moment and getting blog photos I've usually been too perished to even contemplate it, it's safe to say Winter is officially here. I think it's officially time to crack out the long sleeved thermals! 

Today Craig, Sadie and I visited the Sharrowvale Christmas market which I think won hands down in the battle of the festive markets thanks to the amazing food filled stalls (big love to Eve Kitchen and their to die for donuts & Birdhouse Tea) and homeware store Pom (Chatsworth was dreamy but a bit too busy and there wasn't enough at Whirlow but Sadie loved all the animals). My Christmas shopping is now firmly complete so all that's left to tackle is the decorations and put up the tree, I couldn't be more excited to get the baubles out but Craig is dragging his sorry feet and I really don't fancy trying to navigate our loft hatch/ladder situation so right now it's stalemate. Have you succumbed and put your tree up already? I'd love to know as looking at Instagram I feel like the only Christmas spirited gal without a tree in my living room.

For me Christmas market trips are all about being warm and cosy so you know my faux fur aviator jacket had to be involved which is easily the best purchase I've made all season. It's so snuggly and much nicer than the one Topshop do and a fraction of the price of the Reiss version and original Acne offering. Underneath is my newest arrival and I still can't believe it's a dress! I can't remember the last time I sported a dress in the day but thanks to the midi length it's ideal for all day mum kneeling, universally flattering grey shade and the Whistles inspired tie waist it's just a little bit perfect. To keep this out of frumpy mum territory I teamed it with sheer tights and my favourite bad ass buckle boots which rarely leave my feet, they're that comfortable. That said I do think it'd look ace with a heeled sock boot too, in fact there may be a pair winging their way to me as I type - well it is the season of good will after all.

The Dancing Lady Emoticon Dress

Sometimes a dress comes along that makes you shave your legs and forget all about your breastfeeding-in-a-dress woes (it's next to impossible in something like this unless you want to flash everyone) so give a warm welcome to what I hope will be the first of many dresses that make me feel like the dancing lady emoticon. Sure it's not red but it's certainly full of ruffles which are incidentally all over the high street right now, although I must admit I was an earlier adopter picking this dress up in June. Paired simply with man repelling sandals and my favourite Chanel inspired cross body bag this ensemble is perfect for occasions where you've gotta get your shimmy on, in fact this floral print beauty is fast becoming the birthday dress with outings at Sadies first party and my mums al fresco birthday gathering yesterday. After all the upheaval of July Sundays birthday soiree was the perfect anecdote - we enjoyed prosecco and devoured possibly the tastiest and lightest Sunday roast I've enjoyed in a long time. The location? Brocco on the Park, a seriously well done boutique hotel and restaurant which is just a hop, skip and a jump from my abode. If you live in Sheffield I suggest you visit for beyond tasty fodder pronto or if you're visiting the city of steel this would be sleepover perfection. I'd happily stay there myself and I only live up the road which says a lot for this beautifully decorated and welcoming home from home.

Brocco on the Park love aside I'm welcoming August with open arms - a new month signals a fresh start and I'm hoping the eighth month of the year will bring a lot more joy and happiness than the previous. This week is already looking promising with a trip to Yorkshire Sculpture Park on the cards, a long overdue hair appointment (you're incredibly polite if you haven't noticed my root situation) and a Topshop personal shopping appointment because what else do you do when you need a dress fit for God parent duties? I may already have my eye on the Amy ankle boots which give more than just a nod to Givenchy and a pink ruffled sweatshirt (can you tell I like a ruffle?) which has worryingly disappeared from the website, fingers crossed the lovely Lucy can find me one in store.

I think the last time I rocked a pair of dungarees was a good twenty years ago but with Sadie being such an avid wearer (yes I take style inspiration from my eight month old) and because they're all over right now I thought it was time I took the plunge and bought a pair myself. I've seen an abundance of black and traditional blue dungarees across the high street but it wasn't until I spotted this khaki pair on River Islands styling Instagram that my eyes turned into hearts. Cue a rapid online stock check and a speedy trip to Meadowhall to pick these babies up. I think dungarees are the ultimate Marmite buy, you either love 'em or hate 'em but I'm honestly thrilled that I've finally got a pair - they're beyond comfy and most importantly make a change from skinny jeans which I hate to say I'm getting bored of. The only thing I need to work on is my shoe game, sporting just Gazelles will soon get dull no? Maybe I need these?

Another newb we need to discuss is Whistles' take on the regular striped knit which found its way into my wardrobe thanks to Grazias 25% discount, any excuse right? Now we all know I should be building my honeymoon wardrobe but we also know I can't resist a good knit - it must be the true English gal inside me. So yes this piece may not be the most Lake Como appropriate but its definitely going to be one item I wear time and time again, fact. Finally give a warm Cagney and Lace welcome to my cream wannabe wool biker jacket from Spanish giants Zara, this baby has been waiting in the wings since well, what feels like forever. After spotting this in one of Fleurs vlogs and discovering it wasn't even £40 it had to be added to my jacket collection stat. I've got more wear out of this than I ever thought imaginable, kudos Zara. Kudos.

This week has passed by in a sea of loveliness with my first Mothers Day and Sadies christening making Sunday one to remember. Thankfully things have been less uptempo these past few days and I've enjoyed pottering around the house, running errands and catching up with friends. Yesterday Craig and I ordered our wedding bands before he got ready to jet off for his stag in Krakow, I can't believe how quickly the time is going - we'll be saying I do in just over a month! Someone pass the wedding to do list...

Sound the klaxon, it's time for my first fashion post of 2016 and you may have noticed it's been a long time coming, shamefully my last outfit post was two months ago. Sharing outfits has always been my absolute fave and it's the main reason I started Cagney and Lace but lately I've been uninspired by my seemingly samey samey wardrobe - with Spring and my honeymoon fast approaching I've started adding pieces to my collection and today it felt like a good time to capture my ensemble and get the Olympus out.

First let me introduce you to three new items that have entered my life, step forward the pale pink trench, striped knit and blue scarf. Topshop is often full to the rafters with trend led garms so I was shocked and delighted to discover this blush coloured beauty earlier this week. Trench coats are one of those timeless numbers that elevate the simplest of looks so I'm always happy to add another to my stash. Next up is the humble striped knit, that fail safe wardrobe essential that is perfect for those don't know what to wear days. Finally welcome the softest blue scarf which I gravitated towards in a recent visit to & Other Stories, believe it or not I used to wear all of the blue when I was a teen so after a few years off it's time to say hello to fifty shades of blue. Rounding off my look I added my favourite faux leather skinnys, well loved Alexa satchel and the comfiest leopard print boots around.

Today may have been the perfect Sunday - Sadie slept 10pm until 10am giving me time to get ready for our trip to John Lewis to compile our wedding gift list (eeeee it's really starting to happen). After a cake and latte break we headed back to my mum and dads for a Sunday roast before walking off those calories as a family. Bliss.

Putting this post together made me realise how long it's been since I got chatty on Cagney and Lace, shameful right? There's been a whole lotta product chat lately and very little in terms of a life catch up so here we go - this weekend has been a real gem, not only have I caught up with friends I don't see enough of (shout out to Jen, Jo and Liza), eaten some delicious food and asked one of our favourite couples to be Sadies Godparents but I've been also enjoyed some quality family time as Craig had Sunday and Monday off. All the hands up emojis. For all you wedding fans I'm excited to say we've received our amazing save the dates which have been designed by one of my beautiful friends (she's a serious talent). These are speedily winging their way to our nearest and dearest. Less than five months to go!

So now shall we talk about the elephant in the room? Step forward my spectacular personalised Burberry cape which has been in my life a little longer than you'd expect even though it's making its first Cagney and Lace appearance today. Not long after my 27th birthday my mum turned up at our house with a cryptic parcel, a belated birthday/wedding gift she announced. Cue much confusion and why are you giving me this now as the weddings not until next year questions. I think things ended with something like, just open it Hannah so you can imagine my shock and sheer elation when I discovered a caramel and gold Burberry box filled with the most perfect cape featuring my soon-to-be initials embroidered onto it. There were definitely screams!

To keep the focus on superwoman's must have I kept the rest of my look tonal - a rust coloured belted cardigan, a grey French slogan tee peeping out, faux leather skinny trousers (these babies seriously keep their shape), a berry cable knit bobble hat to ward off the chill and finally the best ankle boots I've ever bought. Sam Edelman make the comfiest shoes around and these babies are no exception, I'm already eyeing up the taupe pair. Fingers crossed for a Black Friday ShopBop discount code.

In case you didn't know I've got a lotta love for Sheffield. It's my hometown with the perfect blend of city sights and countryside cool, it's the place where I ticked off a whole load of important lifetime goals and it's where I met the love of my life (at Leadmill in case you were wondering) so when the team at Travelodge* got in touch asking me to share my favourite place in Sheffield I was ready to shout my love from the rooftops. On a side note did you know Sheffield recently won a Trip Advisor award for the Best Value City Break? I literally feel like a proud parent.

Now there's a ton of independents that get my vote in Sheffield (I need to compile a guide pronto) but one new favourite is Jameson's Cafe & Tea Rooms. Last Tuesday I treated my mum to the splendid afternoon tea and it certainly didn't disappoint. Walking into Jameson's is like stepping back in time, the male waiters don black bow ties and a pianist plays sweet melodies but don't be fooled into thinking this place is stuffy and not for you. The staff are welcoming and the vibe is incredibly relaxed. After selecting our teas, posh pops, scones (yes there's more than just fruit and plain on offer) and our cakes (the selection is endless) we enjoyed a lovely catch up with a teething Sadie in tow, just look at her little red cheeks! The sandwiches were on point but the real show stoppers were the sweet treats, my chocolate and orange scone smothered in lemon curd was a force to be reckoned with and my slice of lemon drizzle and gin cake was something else. Are you wiping away drool too?

With Sadie throwing in the teething ring we took our leftovers home via a trip to Swallows and Damsons, a dreamy florist just a stones throw from Jameson's where I picked up this seriously Autumnal bouquet and another succulent. Yes another one. If pretty blooms are your bag then you must check out their Instagram pronto, get ready to swoon.

I can't quite believe that this time last year I was days away from getting engaged and just a few short weeks from finding out I was pregnant, what a difference a year makes hey? I'm bringing you this post from the comfort of my sofa, hot chocolate with mini marshmallows in hand - things are definitely starting to feel a whole lot more Autumnal around these parts and I ain't complaining. Having Sadie has been one of the best things in my life but forgive me for saying blasted baby weight is not the one - no one tells you that after birth those extra pounds just stick around, I naively thought they'd just drop off. I'm determined to shift the additional weight but for now I'm embracing change and stocking up my wardrobe to suit. So say hello to two new pieces, both from ASOS - the faux leather joggers and high neck striped jumper.

Leather trousers have always been an Autumn Winter staple of mine so when I spotted this relaxed pair with their chic ankle grazing length they just had to be mine. Paired with tasseled loafers and a high neck camel and black striped jumper things have got a real beatnik inspired look and I kinda like it. Mixing patterns in the same colour palette is always a winner so completing the look with my leopard print coat was a no brainer. Holding all my worldly possessions is my Alexa satchel - five years in and my most used designer bag is still going strong, kudos Mulberry. I've also got to give my favourite Autumnal lipstick a huge shout out, Laura Merciers Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Tamara Red. In terms on hygiene it's probably a bit wrong how long I've had this sitting in my make-up drawer but it really is the perfect shade right now and the formula is so moisturising.

This weekend I'm look forward to trying out a few Madeline Shaw recipes and I wouldn't say no to a spot of brunch out and about, it's definitely my favourite meal of the day. Keep your peepers on my Instagram for all of the food snaps.

Oh hey September, how you doin'? Three guesses who's been watching Friends re-runs on Comedy Central? September may have arrived quicker than anyone could have ever anticipated but I'm certainly not complaining, so far the ninth month of the year has brought nothing but goodness - I don't know whether it's planning a wedding or being a new mum to Sadie Florence but right now things seem to be coming up roses, except for my washing machine but hey you can't have it all.

With Summer feeling like a distant memory I've started to plan (and buy) my Autumnal wardrobe, concentrating on key pieces to make those all important interchangeable looks for running about town. One staple I can't get enough of when knitwear season comes to town is coats. I love how you can be wearing the most simple of outfits yet things go up a notch by adding a coat - suddenly a look can appear polished, textural and pulled together. Coats are the Autumn Winter game changer. I use this sentiment to justify a new coat every year and 2015 is no exception so say hello to my latest addition from Boohoo. Yes this baby isn't a Barbour and comes in at just £50, a serious steal for a waxed jacket which is perfect for the British weather and those mischievous downpours. I've paired this subtly checked baby with its huge-store-everything pockets with a 70s inspired denim shirt and black skinny jean combo for a day of running errands but I can already envisage it over a snuggly, oversized knitted jumper dress and thick black opaques. Hot chocolate in hand and leaf kicking optional. Autumn, I'm ready for you.

The Return Of The Cardigan

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I used to dig a cardigan or two, not the twinset and pearls kind but those thin knit, sometimes jersey ones that used to cover your rear. Remember those paired with leggings? Seems I must of OD'd on cardigans a few years ago because there's not a single one on my rail...until now. A few days ago I was browsing Topshop for maternity wares (read all about my covering the bump woes here) when I came across this hooded colour block beauty. Not only does it make me feel like Paddington bear when I wear it (score) but it's also super cosy whilst having an understated edge. The styling for this cardigan was just so on point online that I had to try and recreate the look myself. I think this may just be my new favourite outfit.

Over the past year my style has started to evolve, once a pattern obsessive I now find myself drawn to simpler clothing with the craziest pattern being a classic breton stripe. Who'd of thought it? While I may be slowly developing a uniform of sorts I find it so much easier to mix and match these pieces than I ever did my patterned friends. I've even bought myself a monochrome shirt dress. Hannah in black? Try not to faint. My new confidence in style has led me on a quest, to buy fewer but more quality pieces and to start decluttering my wardrobe. What will make the cut?
