The best spiced banana loaf around
Some girls spend their Saturdays nights dancing around their handbags (do people actually do that?) while others have a date night with their boyfriend or indulge in a takeaway, what do I do? Spend the evening baking with three of my best gal pals - as much as I love a night out partying I do enjoy being able to hear what my friends are actually saying plus who doesn't love a good girly catch up? Throw in a bottle of wine, baked goods and re-runs of The Hills and I may have found the recipe to the perfect girls night in.

I've been dying to bake cookies for ages (I blame Anna) so after consulting the foodie goddess that is Rosie I decided to try my hand at her ChocoNut Chip Cookies while my bud Claire decided to tackle the boys Spiced Banana and Dark Chocolate loaf recipe - what can I say ladies? I don't just go for a pretty face, he can bake too! After Claire and her fella enjoyed a dinner with the boy and I she requested the boys banana loaf recipe and to my amazement he proceeded to write it out! Similar to how playboys have their little black book of ladies phone numbers and statistics, the boy has one full of recipes which he's incredibly protective over, boys and their toys eh?

The cookies went down and absolute storm even if I do say so myself although they certainly don't look like the most appetising goodies on the planet - note to self, make sure friend has grease-proof paper and a baking tray before rocking up without either. I highly recommend going all Mary Berry and making a batch of these cookies next time you have friends or family popping round with just moments to spare - they're super easy and quick to make. The only struggle you may have is mixing together your wet and dry ingredients, you need some serious arm muscles! If you find yourself with a little longer to bake then have a go at the lovely spiced banana loaf, I've managed to find a recipe on the River Cottage website which is not too far off the boys so you should be able to get a similar looking loaf to the beauty above.

Be sure to let me know if you try either of the recipes, I'd love to know how you get on - even better if you decide to have a bake off style night in like we did.

Do you enjoy baking? What's your favourite recipe to whip up in a bake off?
