Wedding Gifts From Uncommon Goods

Thursday, 19 May 2016

Your wedding day is magical and your honeymoon is the holiday that you never want to end, seriously. It's. The. Best. So you can imagine the come down when you're carried over the threshold (yes we totally ticked that box) to realise all the wedding festivities are over. That is until you realise you have a wedding gift to open from Uncommon Goods*, a cool website that brings together designers, artisans and all round talented folk to offer you different, can't-find-anywhere-else gifts and homewares.

So before you get carried away and start cracking open the champagne with me (because how else do you open wedding gifts?) let’s talk about what I found inside the cardboard packaging, say hello to our personalised Hannah and Craig print. Isn’t it the cutest? What I love about Uncommon Goods is not only the huge selection of items you never thought you needed until you laid eyes on them but how you get to learn more about the seller too, 'cos after all we all buy from the person right? Our cameo print was designed by Mary & Shelly Klein a mother and daughter duo who not only design couple prints but ace family portraits too - don't just take my word for it, check them here.

Sadie was also lucky enough to get a thoughtful wedding gift too (well she did make the cutest baby around on our special day). The All Aboard Books make a refreshing change from the run of the mill childrens books, taking you on a journey of landmarks in Paris and New York. This adorable series is designed by a husband and wife team and I love how they introduce French to children in a cool, retro inspired book. Sadie can’t get enough of books right now and will happily sit and while away a few quiet moments with one in hand (a woman after my own heart) so it’s a joy to see her with something a touch different. Check out Hailys mini store of beyond cute children's goods here and on that note I bid you au revoir mes amis.

Do you enjoy finding new places to shop for homewares and gifts? I've got my eye on this super cool lighting.

*In collaboration with Uncommon Goods, all thoughts my own.

Introducing Mr & Mrs Wild

Wednesday, 11 May 2016

What a difference a month makes, I've gone from Miss Firth to Mrs Wild and I couldn't be happier. The day went without a hitch even though we experienced every type of weather possible - I'm talking glorious sunshine, April showers, hail (yes hail and only when I got out of the wedding car at the church) and finally a dashing of snow. Not long after this picture was taken the heavens opened and I had to clamber down the hills like Bambi, if Bambi wore a wedding dress and a pair of Jimmy Choos. One of my dear friends got married last August and I distinctly remember asking her if married life felt any different when she returned from her honeymoon, she told me yes and that as a couple they felt closer. At the time I did wonder how this was possible especially as Craig and I already had Sadie together but what do you know the girl was right. It's a difficult one to put into words so without sounding like one of those smug marrieds you'll have to trust me on this one although I will say life seems complete and I feel incredibly happy and content knowing that the three of us are all part of one Wild unit.

One thing I will confess though is the tiniest bit of sadness (and I mean the teeny tiniest bit) that I'll not get to plan our wedding or enjoy the day all over again. If only we had a few weddings to attend this year, that'd cure the wedding planning blues for sure. It's true what they say about your wedding day passing by in a heartbeat - with eighteen months of planning you'd think the universe would grant you a slowed down second on your wedding day but sadly not. My advice to any soon to be wedded couples would be to make sure you take a moment together where it's just the two of you and soak it all up. Craig and I were lucky enough to do this twice on our day as Jon our everything-we-could-have-wished-for-and-more photographer took us to two different locations, one enroute to our reception and the other sneaking away and we both agreed these two moments were some of our favourites from the day.

I'm thinking about putting together a couple of blog posts on our wedding including suppliers, behind the scenes planning and of course a whole host of pictures from the day itself so do let me know if you'd be interested in seeing this. For now I'm signing off because as much as I'd love to sit and blog all day I've got a super fun, into everything ten month old to play with.

Are you excited for wedding season? Tell me you have some weddings to attend?
