Like most I'm often sad to wave goodbye to the weekend (aren't they just the best?) So you can imagine my sorrow bidding farewell to a three day weekend, in Oxford with my fave who can usually be found at work most Saturdays, damn you retail! After watching far too many period dramas and episodes of Lewis Oxford found it's way onto my must visit list, Craig had clearly taken note surprising me at Christmas with a trip to the home of one of the worlds best universities, which just happens to be my backdrop for todays post. Isn't she a beauty? As much as I enjoyed my time at uni I never took joy in visiting the library, if only I'd of studied in Oxford I'd never leave. The whole building is absolutely breathtaking and we may have stood for a few moments just staring, in silence. We also paid a trip to the Bodleian library shop which is without a doubt the most well curated book shop I've ever had the pleasure of visiting - I managed to leave with just one book in hand although I must confess my urge to read has never been stronger. Someone pass me a novel.
For a Saturday packed to the metaphorical bum bag with tourist adventures I knew I'd only be whinging if I didn't pop my comfy (and loud) Nike frees on, love 'em or hate 'em these babies are SO comfortable and bring a nice pop of colour to proceedings. My faux leather skirt was pulled from the back of my rail and thrown together with a breton striped tee - stripes and leather make a chic combo don't you think? To bring the right amount of Hannah to the party I added a new embellished necklace which I've had my eye on for a while. At £65 it seemed ridiculously over priced for Topshop but when I found it in the sale at £25 I couldn't say no. Final touches to stop my bones from freezing, the sun was delightful but the wind a madam, I threw on my blue oversized coat and faux fur tippet which is easily the best £7 I ever spent, who'd of thought I'd still be rocking this two years after I bought it?
Oxford really is one of the most beautiful and historical cities I've ever visited, and naturally things got a little snap happy. If you're interested in my pretty, arty shots keep your culture hungry eyes peeled for another Oxford heavy post later this week.
Are you mourning the loss of the weekend? What did you get up to?
