Elephant Print Dress: eBay Tan Waist Belt: Topshop Sam Edelman Sandals: mywardrobe.com |
I'd love to say I'm that cool girl who can pick up a vintage find in my sleep and track down a bargain on eBay as though my life depended on it but that couldn't be further from the truth. In all honestly I can be a little bit lazy when it comes to shopping - give me a well merchandised shop any day over trawling through a charity shop for a hidden gem, or put me down for a spot of ASOS lovin' over searching page upon page of eBay finds so can you imagine my joy when I spotted the lovely Kylie rocking this very dress from eBay on her blog. The price alone (£13.76 including postage) was reason enough to pop in my Paypal password but when I found this dress was a Mink Pink dupe I was seriously impressed.
Regular Cagney and Lacers will know I'm an absolute sucker for anything with animals on so a dress with an African-esque print, covered with elephants is seriously my bag (who doesn't love elephants plus have you seen the documentary with Tom Hardy? Hubba hubba) however the cold shoulder detail, well that's another story. Don't get me wrong I've admired the cold shoulder trend from a far but I've never felt the need to commit to a wardrobe addition with this very feature so I was a little apprehensive to see how this would go down. Surprisingly I really enjoy this extra deet which certainly adds an extra somethin' somethin' to what could have been a pretty shapeless smock style dress. Letting the elephants make all the noise I've added my trusty embellished tan bet to emphasis my waist and my fave sandals-of-the-moment, not forgetting my own pasty limbs to complete the look.
Needless to say my safari get up when down a storm on Bank Holiday Monday when Craig and I had dinner with my parents, brother and his fiancee and the dress even worked in my favour - let's just say there was plenty of room to fit in pudding! You may have noticed that todays pictures haven't been taken in my ma and pa's beautiful garden but in our very own cottage's green space - right now it's not the most inspiring of places but the boy and I are full to the brim with ideas so watch this space. eBay, I may just be back again.
Do you enjoy the thrill of thrift and eBay shopping or are you a high street kinda gal?

You should give one a go lovely, they're surprisingly wearable.
DeleteHey!! This is amazing!! I am seriously tempted to buy one!!! What was the sizing like??

It's adorable isn't it? Especially for the price. I went for a medium and it's ever so slightly big on me so I'd say its a UK size 12.
