So they said it was going to snow on Friday but I don't think anyone realised just how much it was going to come down - my mum was frantically texting me on Friday afternoon to leave work early for fear of me not making it home. I work just outside the centre of Sheffield so laughed off her messages as there was barely any snow, that is until I tried to get up the many hills to my parents house - cue both the boy and I abandoning our cars and walking the rest of the journey home. Waking up on Saturday morning we knew there was no way we were going to be able to attend my friends wedding (roughly a two hour drive away) and after much sulking and pouting my friends were informed.
After deciding that moping around was not the most productive way to spend our Saturday the boy and I blitzed our bedroom, goodbye floordrobe (it was good while it lasted) and hello carpet. I genuinely have never seen my bedroom as tidy as it is right now and I love it! Whenever I try and tidy the mess that is my bedroom on my own I always get sidetracked but with Craig helping me it's finally sorted. As a reward for our hard work the boy and I went on a snowy adventure to our local Indian restaurant for a huge feast, we even spotted a fox on the return journey!
Before we knew it Sunday brunch was upon us - scrambled egg on sourdough toast with smoked salmon in case you were wondering. Not the type of peeps to rest on our laurels Craig and I devoured our brunch before donning our thermals and wooly hats for a long walk down to Ecclesall Road, a sweet cupcake treat was calling. If you ever find yourself in Sheffield then Fancie is the place to go - I've eaten Hummingbird cupcakes in London and cupcakes from the famous Magnolia Bakery in New York but nothing compares to Fancie, they are honestly the most divine cupcakes around (check out my Instagram for a sneaky pic). I'd lie if I said that was where the culinary delights ended as after a challenging up hill struggle home the family and I enjoyed a Sunday roast followed by home made apple pie. Snow or no snow, I definitely need to get to the gym tomorrow.
Although the weekend hasn't been the celebratory wedding filled one we should of enjoyed the boy and I have had a pretty good one, hence the title of my post - no matter what what the weathers like you'll always have fun if you're with the ones you love. On that soppy note I'll off to watch the rest of the Goonies, can you believe I've never seen it?
What have you been up to this weekend? Did the snow change your plans?
:S Sorry to hear that you didn´t make it to your friend´s wedding due to the snow! I mean, how can it seriously be snowing at this time of the year?
ReplyDeleteNo snow in Madrid though, it rarely snows here and when it does it´s nothing something to really be worried about (at least not in the last 3 years I have been here). It was raining the whole weekend though which really didn´t make us want to leave the house but we tried - had friends over on Friday, went out for dinner on Saturday, and watched a football match yesterday and it was partly sunny. Hahahaha!
I have never seen a more gloomy Madrid in all the time I have been here.
I know it's mad, we should surely be having a bit of warmth now!
