As a reformed shopaholic (laughs out loud- it's all about saving for house deposits don't you know) I have to carefully consider purchases much more than I ever use to. Gone are the frivolous days when a trip to Meadowhall would result in bags upon bags of purchases which would only get worn once or twice....disposable shopping is on it's way out! It is however time for me to pack away the whimsical dresses and sandals and to embrace (just a few) key Autumn pieces.
Every Autumn we see the return of tartan so I thought I'd make the switch from the usual tartan shirt to shorts. These cuties are from Oasis and are even piped with faux leather- ticking off another trend. I'll team these with black opaques, ankle boots and a great big knit for a look that says I-made-an-effort.
Next is this berry red tweed biker jacket from Warehouse, the perfect alternative to much loved leather biker. I'll wear this with everything from peg leg jeans (more on these later) to faux leather leggings to covering up dresses on a night out. In terms of cost per wear this jacket has already paid for itself.
I love nothing than buying a new cream jumper every Autumn Winter and this ASOS number is too beaut- yes it's incredibly basic but with a little twist and aren't these the pieces we all long for in our wardrobes? I rest my case, plus in my head I'm already wearing this with the faux leather skater skirt from Oasis. If you hadn't guessed by now I'm not afraid of a touch of leather, whether it's real or faux and neither is the high street this season. Once the reserve of biker chicks, leather is now fighting with denim for the most versatile award and this skirt is no exception. The conker brown colour is the epitome of Autumn and makes a nice change to black. Need inspiration on how to style this? Look no further than the lovely Olivia, a lady who knows how to rock a leather skirt.
Now it wouldn't be a Wednesday Wishlist without an inclusion or two from Zara, these peg leg velour trousers (they look like denim to me Zara) and the cowboy style courts are a match made in heaven. Throw in the ASOS jumper and an oversized snakeskin clutch and you're off to meet the girls for drinks! The trousers look like the perfect solution to my Current/Elliott craving while the courts scream Isabel Marant and give a nod to THAT shirt.
Finally no Autumn wardrobe update would be complete without a burgundy wine coloured lipstick. Usually I stick to MAC when it comes to bold lipsticks but the amazing Fleur recommends the Topshop lipstick in Beguiled and the Revlon lipstick in Black Cherry. If you haven't seen Fleur's YouTube videos then you seriously need to check them out. In the words of Tulisa, they're so on point! A new lipstick is a really easy way to update your look and I know these will be my first purchases. Now how many Boots Advantage points have I got?
What's your favourite from my Wednesday Wishlist? What pieces will you be buying to update your wardrobe for the Autumn season?
