My mum

When my mum suggested a pre birthday trip to Bath I couldn't have been more ecstatic, even though it's ridiculously far away from Sheffield Bath is easily one of my favourite places to visit on a mini break - not only is the city steeped in history but it has seriously amazing shops and did I mention that it's bloomin gorgeous? Everywhere you turn there's something to catch your eye, to lead you in a different direction, in summary it's the perfect place to enjoy a good old mooch, a chill out if you will. As a serious fan of Bath my trip is going to become a trilogy of posts - what can I say? I've got a fair bit to say about the place!

My mum and I stayed at the beautiful Priory Hotel which is just a short walk from everything Bath has to offer and no, it has nothing to do with the Priory in London - let me just clear that one up! On arrival at the Priory we were warmly greeted and told we'd been upgraded as a welcome back treat (my mum, myself and my nan stayed at the Priory a few years ago). Walking into the Begonia room my mum and I were both grinning from ear to ear, not only was the room huge but it looked onto the award winning gardens, my mums idea of heaven. The hotel staff are incredibly attentive and even asked if we would like our morning tea at 8am (my nan has to have an early morning cuppa and did on our previous stay). I couldn't believe they'd remembered what time we'd had tea previously, needless to say this was pushed back an hour - nan you get up far too early, we need our beauty sleep!

As divine as Bath is it's rather lovely to get away from the city sights and the Priory is definitely the perfect place to unwind and relax, it's a favourite with the celebrities too as we saw Jason Donovan checking out as we settled our bill (cue much nudging and whispering from my mum). Since our last stay at the Priory the hotel have had a gym and spa built into the grounds which are incredibly sympathetic to the rest of the almost gothic buildings at the Priory (well done guys!) My only complaint about the Priory is that a two night stay simply isn't enough - we had so many Bath In Fashion events planned that we barely got time to fully appreciate the spa, even though we both indulged in a treatment each. Rest assured we managed to squeeze in a proper stroll around the gardens on Saturday morning, hence all my pictures. Well you've got to walk off your Eggs Benedict some how.

The Priory is certainly at the luxury end of the hotel market in Bath but if you ever find yourself in the area and seriously want to treat yourself then look no further. My only question is when can the boy and I go back? The trilogy of Bath continues...

Have you ever visited Bath? Where did you stay?
