The end result

Bonjour mes amis! I'm feeling rather French today and why the devil is that you may be wondering? Well the boy and I have been on the hunt for a holiday destination for what feels like forever and I think we may have finally decided on the south of French, hello Bioderma! All things Francais aside I'm bringing you this post with a rather annoying head cold, I should have known looking after my four year old cousin who had a serious case of the sniffles himself was asking for trouble but hey ho, I can manage a few restless nights *breaks into huge yawn*.

Last Saturday I had a long overdue catch with my girl Lauren who is six month pregnant - I for one cannot wait to welcome a baby into our little clan! As a lover of all things crafty I knew Lauren would fancy doing something a little different to our usual after work Meadowhall meet ups which usually involve a trip to Pizza Express, so when I saw the lovely Victoria had been crafting and decorating bunting I knew a trip to Fired Arts was on the cards.

Fired Arts is a craft cafe, somewhere you can sit and enjoy a pot of tea and a slice of cake all whilst painting ceramics or trying your hand at decopatch - I've been to Fired Arts once before with my now teenage cousins and made a decopatch penguin! Lauren and I were warmly greeted and after making the agonising decision of what to create I settled on bunting whilst Lauren chose a bird shaped trinket box, over cups of herbal tea and sandwiches we decopatched away. FYI our sandwiches were from Snap Deli, a deli which I can't believe I've only just discovered, my mozzarella, pesto and tomato sandwich was amaze! If you've never decopatched before it's pretty simple and involves applying plenty of PVA glue to the area before adding pretty paper on top to get a cool and individual look, if I can do it then anyone can! After a couple of hours of catching up and crafting away our projects were complete - I must say I'm pretty impressed with my bunting and think it looks rather pretty in my mum and dads kitchen.

If you ever find yourself in Sheffield then I'd highly recommend a visit to Fired Arts, the staff are incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is so relaxed and fun that you could almost be horizontal! Now when am I going back to get crafty with a deer head? I wonder what the boy would say if one appeared in our new living room...

Have you ever tried decopatch? Would you spend your Saturday in Fired Arts?
