I'm sure I say this in practically every post but my where has the time gone? It doesn't seem like two minutes ago since we welcomed in the new year and now it's time to say goodbye to 2012 and hello to 2013. 2012 has been a really enjoyable year for me - I've managed to live with a boy for a whole year (medal please), seen two good friends get engaged and another get pregnant - although thankfully I didn't actually see that one! Jokes aside 2012 was also the year I started Cagney and Lace - after months of saying I want to start my own blog I finally took the plunge in July and I've not looked back. Blogging has become a huge part of my life and every time I get a page view, gain a new follower on GFC or see a new comment on one of my posts it brings a smile to my face so thank you to you my readers and everyone who supports me blogging.
If you're anything like me you'll make ridiculous new years resolutions every January like eat less chocolate or get super fit but after a weeks worth of good intentions it all falls at the way side. 2013 however is going to be different as I've really thought about what I want to achieve and how I'm going to do it. My new years resolutions might not be ground breaking but they're realistic.
1. Be more organised
Now I'm sure many of my friends will be shocked to see this as one of my new years resolutions as I know many of them will remember me tidying the entire year 6 class' desks for fun - yes I was that cool and organised. Somewhere between year 6 and starting work full time my talent for organisation has dwindled. Now don't get me wrong I still love organisation like a fat kid loves cake (particularly storage solutions) but after a long week of work the last thing I want to do at the weekend is tidy my wardrobe, organise my beauty collection or put together a budget - which would have to include Space NK! This year I vow to banish the piles of clothes, the messy finances and get organised - it will certainly save me time in the long run plus I'll never have to hunt for my favourite lip stick again.
2. Learn to relax and switch off
You know the story - you're sat watching television with the boy whilst checking Topshop on your iPad and Twitter on your phone all while texting your mum in the next room (just me?) Before you know it your evening has gone. It's then time for bed but you can't stop thinking about what you need to do tomorrow.... I'm sure I'm not alone in this one but at least I hold both my hands up and admit I'm a bit of a technology addict. Part of it is the nature of the blogging beast - I spend my week days at work and a lot of my evenings on blog related business so when else am I going to search the Internet or think about what I'll be wearing tomorrow? This is easily the most difficult of all my resolutions but I'm definitely going to start either technology free nights or a ban on all things Apple after a certain time. Life's for living and I need to remember that.
3. Drink more water
It doesn't matter what you put on your skin if you're not looking after it from the inside - I'm sure it's not news to you but drinking water and eating well are essential components for happy and glowing skin. When I'm at home I drink litres upon litres of water but at work it's just cups of tea (sometimes herbal) when someone isn't crazy busy and can make a round for everyone. For 2013 I'm determined to drink more water whilst I'm at work - only good things can come of drinking more water.
4. Be less of a talker and more of a doer
I really struggled with how to express this one as a new years resolution but here's how I see it - I'm a bit of a dreamer. I have lots of ideas and I'm full of good intentions yet I think about things I want to do and say oh I'll do that tomorrow or next week and surprise surprise it doesn't happen. For 2013 I want to take the bull by the horns and see my ideas through, whether it's cooking a new dish, giving baking a go or filming my first You Tube video. What's the worse that can happen?
5. Use my Shu Uemura eyelash curlers
Who doesn't want lovely curled eyelashes? Enough said.
I hope you've all enjoyed reading my new years resolutions and I wish you all a happy and fun filled New Years Eve however you decide to spend it, this year is going to be a quiet one for me at a family party which we're hosting - bring on the quiche. May 2013 be an even better year than 2012 for all my lovely readers.
Are you making any New Years resolutions for 2013? Which do you think will be the hardest to keep?
I too really need to drink more water. My main resolution is to keep control of my finances and write down everything I buy. I'd also like to keep on top of school work/ revision, sleep more and read more. We'll see how they go! Nice resolutions by the way xx
ReplyDeleteI think it's so easy to forget about water - I'm definitely going to make a conscious decision to drink more. That's a great idea, my best friend writes down everything she spends and she's managed to save loads.
DeleteThanks Katie!
Great resolutions! I made a pact to drink more water last year and stop the fizzy drinks, even though I hated water. But it's made such a difference to my weight and skin that now I never drink fizzy drinks, only aqua! :) It's great stuff!
ReplyDeleteOnly just come across your blog, but I love it! Keep up the good work!

Thank you Anna - your comment brought a huge smile to my face. A difference in your skin and weight sounds like a win win situation *runs to get a litre of water*.
